Tickets please!

Here we go! A new Football season is upon us and that means Soccer Saturday is back on our screens. However, I'll be giving Jeff Stelling and the boys a miss this season, as I'm swapping the armchair for the turnstiles. All 72 turnstiles of the Football League to be precise. The aim is to watch a game at every League ground in a single season and blog about my experiences along the way.

My name is Shaun Best and I've spent the last few seasons cheering on my beloved Manchester United from the couch and fleetingly watching hometown phoenix club Chester FC rise from the flames into the dizzy heights of the Football Conference. Having been privy to seeing glamorous sides such as Prescot Cables, Droylsden and Vauxhall Motors pass through the walled city, I was stumped when a friend asked how many league clubs I had actually visited. My response was futile and provoked a period of reflection.

Any Football fan will agree that you can't beat the buzz of going to a game. Hot on the heels of last winter's pre-Christmas tour of Italian giants AC Milan and Parma, one of my New Year's resolutions was to travel to new places. Having visited the big smoke of London a grand total of once and with friends dotted all over the country, now's the perfect time to re-ignite my passion for the beautiful game, escape my comfort zone and go on an adventure.

Fleeing the Chester nest
From Brighton Pier all the way to Accrington Stanley (who are they?) it's time to see for myself what Row Z at Yeovil Town and Plymouth Argyle are like, as I go in search of my Football fix.

Despite not being able to drive, and having to work one weekend a month, I'm looking forward to putting my faith in National Rail and meeting new friends along the way.

I'll be posting pictures, recounting experiences and documenting my progress on the blog. You can also follow me on Twitter @Shaun_Best

Thanks for stopping by. If you see me at one of the matches come and say hello.
